Javier Sanz Viticultor launches the new vintage of V Malcorta

V Malcorta 2018 is already in the market. After 5 months of aging on lees, the 12,000 bottles of this vintage 2018 are already on sale. 2018 vintage is characterized by their great aromatic potential and its excellent quality due to a differentiated harvest because of a magnificent phenolic maturation.

According to Javier Sanz, with this vintage we have a “high quality” wine, something that the winegrower associates with the “perfect sanitary state of the grape due to the climate of the months prior to the harvest.”

Wine features

V Malcorta 2018 is a very balanced wine, with elegant white flowers on the nose and background of citrus aromas, as well as a powerful natural acidity on the palate (characteristic of the Malcorta grape, variant of the Verdejo), great persistence and mineral tones; characteristics that differentiate it and make it unique.

The first bottles of this new vintage left  the winery at the beginning of this month and can be purchased through the usual sales channels.

  • V Malcorta, a unique Verdejo

V Malcorta is made with a clone of the Verdejo variety. Malcorta grape was in the process of disappearing due to the difficulty of harvesting it by hand (hence the name ‘mal-corta’).

Javier Sanz, for his part, began a genetic recovery project more than 18 years ago, rescued some strains of this ancient autochthonous clone of La Seca (Valladolid) and after years of research and reproduction of the genetics he began to elaborate this monovarietal wine.

This means that, currently, Javier Sanz Viticultor is the only winery that sells it exclusively.

This project is in line with the continuous work developed by the winery, characterized by the production of unique wines from the vineyard itself. V Malcorta is part of the V Collection, a range where the consumer can find the most special wines of the company, limited editions and with unique characteristics.

In this range we can find V1863, V Dulce de Invierno and V Colorado, the only red wine in the collection, of unique and unknown genetics, recently awarded a Gold Medal in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
